This 100-yen coin is a commemorative coin issued to mark “EXPO ’75,” held in Okinawa in 1975. The expo, which had the ocean as its theme, took place from July 1975 to January 1976.
The reverse side of this coin features the number “100” engraved in the center, surrounded by the text “EXPO75,” “OKINAWA,” and “Showa 50.”
Additionally, between the text, a wave symbol representing the ocean is depicted at the top, while cute dolphin symbols (“Oki-chan”) are depicted on the left and right, making this a coin that collectors will find particularly interesting.
The obverse features a depiction of Shureimon Gate.

Since a large number of these coins were issued and many still exist today, they do not command a premium value. The fact that they are easy to collect is part of their appeal.
