1972 Sapporo Olympic 100 Yen Cupro-nickel Coin

This 100-yen coin was issued to commemorate the 1972 Sapporo Winter Olympics.The Sapporo Winter Olympics were the first Winter Olympics held in Japan.While 1,000-yen and 100-yen commemorative coins were issued for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, only the 100-yen coin was issued for the Sapporo Olympics.Measuring 30 mm in diameter, it is larger than the 500-yen coin currently in circulation (26.5 mm).
