Karate is a Japanese martial art and combat sport that originated in Okinawa (Ryukyu), utilizing techniques such as punches, kicks, and blocks performed with bare hands and feet. It was formed through the fusion of Chinese martial arts and the Ryukyu’s indigenous martial art known as “Te,” and today it is widely practiced for mental discipline, health promotion, and as a competitive sport, centered around “Kata” and “Kumite.”
