This commemorative coin was issued to mark the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Japan’s National Diet.
The obverse of the coin features the “National Diet Building,” while the reverse depicts a “winged lion.”
In addition, several similar 5,000-yen coins were issued in 1990, the year this coin was released.
Since a fairly large number of these coins were minted, they are relatively easy to obtain.
