The design imitates the coins of the Edo period.
It is written in kanji as “local Autonomy” in four characters.
The year and “JAPAN 47PREFECTURES COIN PROGRAM” are engraved.
The obverse has a different design for each prefecture.
The MIYAZAKI type depicts Miyazaki Prefectural Office
This is a Neo-Gothic style building constructed in 1932 (Showa 7). It is currently used as the Miyazaki Prefectural Office and is registered as a tangible cultural property of the country.
In the central square, there is a fountain, and around it are planted phoenix trees, the prefectural tree, creating a tropical atmosphere that represents the characteristics of Miyazaki Prefecture, which is famous as a resort area.
