This 100 yen coin was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Shinkansen bullet train line in Japan.
The front of the coin depicts the Hokuriku Shinkansen北陸 (E7 series・W7 series ).
The Hokuriku Shinkansen is a high-speed Shinkansen railway line connecting Tokyo with Tsuruga in the Hokuriku region of Japan.
There are a total of nine types of 100 yen coins commemorating the opening of the Shinkansen.
The number of coins issued to commemorate the Hokuriku Shinkansen is 2,360,000.
