The obverse has a different design for each prefecture.
The SHIZUOKA type depicts ”Tea fields” and “Mt. Fuji(富士山,Fujisan)”.
Shizuoka is famous as a tea producing region, and the prefecture has the largest area of tea fields in Japan.
Mt. Fuji is a mountain that straddles Shizuoka and Yamanashi, and is a famous mountain that can be said to be a symbol not only of Shizuoka but also of Japan.
Boasting a remarkable height of 3,776 meters, every year many people from Japan and around the world visit the mountain for sightseeing and mountain climbing. In addition, due to its size and beauty, as well as the harsh environment of Mount Fuji, it has been an object of worship since ancient times, and is counted as one of Japan’s three sacred mountains.
