The Godzilla film franchise, which debuted its first movie in 1954, celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2024. To commemorate this milestone, the Godzilla 70th Anniversary 2024 Proof Coin Set has been released.
This coin set contains six proof coins, from 500 yen to 1 yen, all dated Reiwa 6 (2024), along with one silver medal, all housed in a special leather case.
This coin set was sold through a lottery held in September 2024. It is currently not available for purchase from the Mint.
The lottery had a subscription rate of 1.57 times, with 44,931 applications for the 29,000 sets available. This indicates relatively high popularity among commemorative coin sets issued by the Mint, highlighting the set’s significant attention.
In addition to the coins, this set also contains a silver medal.
The obverse of the silver medal features a design of Godzilla (1995). The reverse features a silhouette of Godzilla (1954).
