Better late than never, but since I got my hands on it, I’d like to introduce it.
This catalog is published by the Japan Currency Dealers Association and is probably the most accessible Japanese coin catalog available. Of course, it’s written in Japanese, so it might be difficult for foreign readers. However, it contains many illustrations and photographs, making it a very useful reference.
The book covers coins and banknotes issued in Japan from ancient times to the present. It includes most basic Japanese coins. However, it doesn’t provide detailed classifications like coin varieties, so it might not be suitable for those seeking precise classifications, such as the detailed breakdown of the Kanei Tsūhō coin.
For modern commemorative coins and current coins, it includes information like mintages, making it a highly valuable reference.
